A born and raised New Yorker, Sami is a proud graduate of Brown University with a degree in Theatre Arts and an advanced member of the world-renowned BMI LEHMAN ENGEL MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP, where she has presented songs for alumni Lynn Ahrens, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Bobby Lopez, Jeanine Tesori, and Richard Maltby Jr.
In 2019, she was named one of The York Theatre Company's NEW, EMERGING, OUTSTANDING (NEO) WRITERS along with collaborator Amanda D'Archangelis.
In 2015, Sami wrote both music and lyrics for the original cross-genre musical ROCK AND A HARD PLACE, which had its world premiere at The Player's Theatre in Greenwich Village in 2016 with a star-studded concert-style reading.
In 2016, she was nominated at the Indie Series Awards in Los Angeles for her songwriting work on the web series THE UNDER 5ERS, which she also helped write, develop, and produce.
Other recent credits include: Lyrics for ArtsPower National Touring Theatre’s JUDY MOODY & STINK (based on the bestselling books by Megan McDonald), which began its national tour in October 2019; SINGLE RIDER (Lyrics & Book, Off-Broadway, 2018); A NEVER-ENDING LINE (Lyrics, Off-Broadway, 2017); THE RADIUM GIRLS: A JAW-DROPPING NEW MUSICAL (Lyrics & Book, Winner at The Players Theatre BOO! Short Play Festival); and THE BREAK (Lyrics, Omaha Creative Institute, 2018).
Upcoming: Lyrics and book for ELINDA (which will premiere at Friends Seminary school in 2020); lyrics for THE PIRATE PRINCESS with music by Ben Diskant and book by Alix Sobler; and lyrics for COMING ATTRACTION, a new musical about the life of Hollywood icon Greta Garbo, with music by Amanda D'Archangelis and book by Gray Horan.
Her work has also been performed at The Metropolitan Room, The Duplex, The Lied Center for Performing Arts, New York Film Academy, The University of Alabama, and Feinstein's/54 Below.
