ABOUT SAMI

A born and raised New Yorker, Sami Horneff is a proud graduate of Brown University and an advanced lyricist and bookwriter in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. With Amanda D’Archangelis, Sami is a 2019 York Theatre Company New/Emerging/Outstanding (NEO) Writer, 2025 Write Out Loud contest winner, and a recipient of the 2026 Lucille Lortel 121 Project and 2026 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat.

Her recent work includes: THE RADIUM GIRLS (Lyrics & Book) in collaboration with Amanda D’Archangelis & Lisa Mongillo and directed by Marissa Jaret Winokur, which was a 2022 NAMT Finalist, a five-time winner at The 2021 National Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and is looking towards a World Premiere production in 2027; SINGLE RIDER (Lyrics & Book, Off-Broadway 2018); BANDIT QUEEN (Lyrics & Book), which has been developed through Artists Residencies at The Legacy Theatre and Drama Club Camp; ArtsPower National Touring Theatre’s JUDY MOODY & STINK (Lyrics) based on the bestselling book series by Megan McDonald; PSYCH! (Lyrics & Book), a 90s adaptation of the Cupid and Psyche myth commissioned by Wichita State University; THE PIRATE PRINCESS (Lyrics) with Ben Diskant and Alix Sobler; COMING ATTRACTION (Lyrics), a new musical about the life of Hollywood icon Greta Garbo; THE BREAK (Lyrics, Omaha Creative Institute); A NEVER-ENDING LINE (Lyrics, Off-Broadway 2017); ROCK AND A HARD PLACE (Music & Lyrics); THE UNDER 5ERS web series (Writer/Producer, 2016 Indie Series Award Nominee for Best Original Song); and two original songs for the feature film A RING FOR CHRISTMAS (UPtv). Upcoming: LETTERS FROM ALMEDA (Lyrics) with music by Jesse J. Sanchez and directed by Dalia Ashurina; and PANDORA IN BLUE JEANS (Lyrics) in collaboration with D’Archangelis and Adam Morrison. 

Her work has been performed at Feinstein’s/54 Below, The Green Room 42, The Metropolitan Room, The Duplex, Lied Center for Performing Arts, and The Phoenix Theatre Company, as well as educational institutions from Northwestern University to The University of Alabama.
